CONSERVATION VOLUNTEER
Makalali Private Game Reserve, Limpopo, South Africa
During June 2017, I went on a month long trip to South Africa to learn about African wildlife. My role was to help collect data on species population and behaviour and maintain any areas of the reserve needing attention.
The experience reminded me of the importance of conservation and beauty of the natural world in which I source the majority of my inspiration.
Living amongst a different culture, I learnt about their customs, lifestyle and cuisine which provided a fresh perspective and flavour to my designs.

ENGLISH TEACHING
Kintamani, Bali, Indonesia
During my travels through Indonesia, I found myself teaching English to a local in exchange for Nasi Goreng and coconuts. This chance experience helped me to develop my communication skills, especially with a language barrier present. My contribution helped create a successful university application and she now lives and studies in Sydney, which was a rewarding outcome.

DONOR
Jodie O'Shea Orphange, Denpansar, Bali, Indonesia
Jodie O Shea tragically died in the Bali bombings, 2002 and this orphanage was created in memory of her. They currently have 96 children in their care.
In June 2016, I volunteered my time visiting and playing with the children and also donating food, toiletries and clothing.
They rely purely of the kindness of the public and it was heart warming to see the family network they have developed and their intact spirits and enjoyment.
I was grateful for the opportunity to enter this haven and witness the work they do.
Donations are also possible through their website.
